Salesforce Implementation Checklist for SMBs

A practical checklist to scope, configure, and launch Salesforce without overbuilding — written for growing businesses.

Salesforce Implementation Checklist for SMBs

Launching Salesforce successfully is less about turning on every feature and more about aligning the platform to how your teams actually sell and support customers.

1. Clarify outcomes before configuration

Define three measurable outcomes (for example: faster lead response, cleaner pipeline forecasts, or fewer handoff errors). Every custom field and automation should map to one of them.

2. Map the real process

Walk through lead → opportunity → order → service with sales and operations. Capture exceptions early — those drive most of the customization work.

3. Start with a lean data model

Prefer standard objects first. Add custom fields only when reporting or workflow truly needs them. A lean org is easier to train and maintain.

4. Plan integrations deliberately

List every system that must sync (ERP, email, billing). Decide direction of truth for each object before writing integrations.

5. Train for adoption, not just go-live

Budget time for role-based training and a 30-day hypercare window. Adoption issues surface after launch, not during UAT demos.
